AFCON 2021: Super Eagles players react to victory against Egypt

The players took to social media to celebrate the win against Egypt. The Super Eagles of Nigeria started their campaign at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 1-0 win against the Pharaohs” of Egypt on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

The Super Eagles were victorious thanks to a goal by Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the 30th minute.

It was the only goal of the encounter as the Super Eagles held on for three points.

After the encounter, the Super Eagles players took to social media to celebrate their victory at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, in Garoua Cameroon.

Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored the only goal of the game, took to his official Instagram account to celebrate moments after the match.

Along with photos from the game he wrote, “Massive win and a perfect way to start the competition. Naija no dey carry last. God is the reason OLUOMACHI
His teammate at Leicester City, Wilfred Ndidi also shared a message on his Instagram account.

The midfield enforcer wrote, “Big performance from the team, what a way to start the tournament.”
Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam took to Twitter to praise their goalkeeper Maduka Okoye for his performance.

The Eredivisie outfit used the colors of Green and white to decorate their home.
Their message on Twitter said, ” Congratulations @OkoyeMaduka and #TeamNigeria with the 1-0 victory in the @CAF_Online Our home is in your colors!

Okoye responded on Twitter with a message that said, “I feel so honored and special, I am speechless. What a club! Red Dankjewel Rotterdam, Dankjewel SPARTA!”
Huesca midfielder Kelechi Nwakali also celebrate the win and his first appearance for the Super Eagles on Instagram.

He wrote, “The first official @ng_supereagles game thanks to everyone who believed in my abilities it was a proud moment well done to the team great performance it will only get better from here ??????????”

Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi also celebrated the win on his Instagram account.

Along with photos was a message that said, “Yeshua. Ibẹrẹ ohun gbogbo ati opin ohun gbogbo, Ope nla ni a mu wa. Revelation 1v8. Great start guys super.”
Nwankwo Kanu former Super Eagles captain took to Instagram to congratulate the team.

He said, “Congratulations super Eagles @ng_supereagles congratulations boys and the coaching crew ?? #nigeria We start as we mean to go #cleansheet #teamnaija we thank God
The Super Eagles of Nigeria continue their quest to progress to the knockout stages when they face Guinea-Bissau in their next Group D fixture scheduled for Saturday, January 15, 2022.
