Residents of Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State said gunmen have attacked Kori community where they abducted a businessman.

Eyewitnesses told BBC that the incident happened Thursday night, when the gunmen stormed the Area shooting indiscriminately.

They also said the gunmen were six in numbet and arrived the community on three motorcycles. No life was lost but a young boy was wounded when a stray bullet hit his ear.

The residents also told the BBC that no security agents came to their rescue in the area during the attack, which left many people devastated.

The Chairman of Dambatta LGA Muhammad Abdullahi Kore confirmed the attack to BBC and also gave the name of the abducted businessman simply as Emmanuel.

The attack is coming on the same day Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje visited the new Chief of Army Staff Maj Gen Farouk Yahaya, urging the military to take action against bandits who have converted some forests in the state to their hideout.
