Niger Coup: is ECOWAS a tool for the United States – Analysis

The United States’ involvement in encouraging the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to take action on Niger, can be seen as a response to a growing concern over keeping the Western exploitation and domination of the African continent’s political and security situation, created to keep its plundering.

Africans, the consciousness of the ordinary individual over neo-colonial slavery has become higher in recent years and triggered the spirit of resilience.

The United States push for the ECOWAS invasion in Niger is to protect its long-standing interest in the region’s natural resources to build its nation while leaving Niger to lavish in poverty.

The United States and its allies have always used disguise tactics called ‘Policing’ to feed big on other nations in the pretext of fostering peace and security as well as a desire to see stability in a geographical zone; whereas, in the actual sense, numerous issues, such as political unrest, ongoing wars, ethnic crises, and food insecurity are either fueled or created by them.

Political unrest in Niger and Africa at large has always posed a serious obstacle to the growth of democracy. The United States has a strong interest in promoting democratic governance throughout the world to create more hegemony, while on the other hand, the United States instigates political unrest in countries that try to liberate themselves from neo-colonial imperialism, just like what they did in Libya under Gaddafi.

Libya today is the result of one of the lies of the United States, which claims to be the champion of democracy and the forerunner of human rights. Libya under Gaddafi was more like a paradise due to its rich source of crude oil and proper management. when the US under Obama was that it can’t exploit and steal Libya’s oil, the US plotted against Gaddafi which lead to the murder of Gaddafi.

The United States hopes to assist in stabilizing its presence in Niger’s political environment, under the disguise of restoring democratic governance, and bolstering the nation’s institutions, in other to achieve that, the ECOWAS has to act as a tool for the US to actualize that.

Democracy is the best form of governance when practiced in its true form, to reverse the democratic values and norms of a society. The numerous coup d’états in Africa are ways to bring pro-Africanism; and periods of authoritarian rule under the pretext of democracy, a measure to steal Africa’s resources, have weakened Africa’s political institutions and undermined the nation’s development.

The United States claims to foster security, however, Niger’s security situation continues to be a source of increasing concern for both the nation and the entire region, under the watch of the US and its ally Franch, having the military stationed in Niger.

If the United States were in Niger to provide security, why didn’t they prevent the coup from happening and install the peace as claimed? why is ECOWAS to install democracy and peace?

Niger and its neighboring nations are directly threatened by the growth of armed groups, even in Nigeria the country of the ECOWAS chairman; especially jihadist factions which mostly operate in the areas where natural resources are found. These organizations take advantage of Niger’s extensive and open borders to move around freely, carry out attacks, and sow unrest.

The United States claims that it values regional cooperation to fight extremist groups because it is a global leader in countering terrorism, but records and reports have shown that all terrorist organizations are masterminded by the United States.

Driving ECOWAS to take action on Niger is an instigation for Africa to fight and kill themselves, paving the way for the US to come in to continue looting African resources under the disguise of installing peace. The United States has never been able a coordinated a strategy for addressing the security issues coming from the area, because they mastermind insurgency as a means to loot and enslaved the people.

The United States makes it seems that it has a moral duty to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable populations as a major global donor of humanitarian aid; while it keeps mining the resources of these nations leaving them to deteriorate economically. The humanitarian crisis and food insecurity are one weapon the United States used to subject nations to succumb to their need. Using ECOWAS  to place sanctions on Niger to deteriorate to a critical point that will affect millions of people.

ECOWAS is allowing itself to be used like a sheep taken to the slaughterhouse by the United States, the US is disguising itself as it wants to use the support and resources of the region to mobilize ECOWAS to act in Niger and deliver critical aid to affected communities. After the thrown of the so-called democratically elected president of Niger, the Citizens gush out the street of Niger to show support for the military and to express their frustration with the Western invasion of their land.

The United States’ encouragement of ECOWAS to act in response to the Niger conflict demonstrates its double standard and weakness in advancing stability, security, and peace in Africa. The US has evacuated its citizens and troops from Niger and at the same time calling for international intervention that Niger’s political instability, security issues, and humanitarian crisis jeopardize regional stability.

The United States is beginning to lose hope as Africa is rising and ready to take back their birthright by freeing itself from Imperialism and neo-colonialism. Africa is ready to build stability and development not for just Niger but for the larger West African region. On the other hand, ECOWAS faces a greater challenge to prove its sincerity and commitment, if its aim and goals are for the growth and development of Africa or it is just a puppet institute of the Western Imperialist masters.
