Iran: Nuclear chief rejects all claims about Iran seeking nukes as “a lie”

The director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran says all claims about Iran seeking to make nukes, secret goals and undeclared nuclear sites in the country are a lie.

Mohammad Eslami added that Iran’s enemies are spreading misleading information about Iran’s nuclear program and they are seeking to block Iran’s pathway toward progress by making excuses and baseless allegations.

The director of the AEOI noted that the main issue is the new power which emerges thanks to new technologies and end foreign domination over a nation.

The US and its Western allies accuse Iran of trying to build nuclear weapons. They claim that Iran’s nuclear program is a front for achieving this goal.

Tehran denies the claim and says it’s nuclear program is purely civilian. It also says nuclear arms have no place in its defense doctrine.

Iran has been denying seeking a Nuclear weapon, but the west keep punishing and imposing destructive sanctions on Iran base on their judgement that it might be seeking the weapon.

Since back in 2009, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei denied the West’s charge that Tehran aims to develop nuclear weapons under a covert program, insisting that the Islamic republic bans such activity.

“They falsely accuse the Islamic republic of producing nuclear weapons. We fundamentally reject nuclear weapons and prohibit the production and the use of nuclear weapons,”he said in a speech broadcast by state television. “They know themselves that it’s not true … but it is part of Iran-phobia policy that controls the behavior of these arrogant governments today.”

The comments came ahead of a meeting in two weeks between Iran and six world powers on the nuclear issue.

Iran has so far defied the demand, insisting its program is for peaceful nuclear energy. It denies accusations by the US, European powers and Israel that it is covertly seeking to build a nuclear weapon.

The comments by Khamenei, the country’s all-powerful leader, came after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that Iran must answer “head on”concerns about its nuclear program at the meeting with world powers.

The Iranian leader demanded that the West revise its policy.

“They must correct this. The Iranian nation is alert. They see and understand animosities and stand against them. The Islamic republic will not retreat.”

Iran’s talks are scheduled for October 1 with the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. The EU expects the meeting to take place in Turkey.

Also yesterday, Khamenei said the annual Quds (Jerusalem) Day rally held Friday across Iran was a “day of loud and clear shouts”against the “cancer of Zionism that is gnawing into the lives of the Islamic nations.”

Referring to Israel as a “counterfeit government,”Khamenei denied that Iran – a staunch supporter of the Palestinians – was seeking a military solution to the Middle East conflict. Khamenei stressed that it was a “lie … claimed by Western media that Iran is attempting to destroy the Zionist regime (Israel) by military equipment.”

Coincidentally, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with CNN released yesterday that Israeli President Shimon Peres has given Russia assurances that it is not planning a strike against Iran.
