Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has said a planned memorial protest for #EndSARS victims will hold on October 20, 2021, despite threats by the Nigerian government and security operatives.

On October 20, 2020, a yet-to-be-confirmed number of Nigerians were killed after men of the Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos.

Hours before a curfew was scheduled to begin on the particular date, soldiers had stormed the toll gate where protesters had gathered and started shooting.

Though the Army initially denied soldiers were at the scene, it later admitted soldiers were there on the invitation of the state government.

It, however, insisted they shot no one, despite video evidence showing otherwise.

Sowore in a tweet on Monday warned the police against suppressing the will of Nigerians to repudiate the mass atrocities of the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

“To ‪@PoliceNG‬ in Lagos & across Nigeria, there will be ‪#EndSARS‬ memorial protests and direct actions on October 20 2021. Nobody can suppress the will of Nigerians to repudiate the mass atrocities of the

‪@mbuhari‬ regime on that day and beyond. ‪#Revolutionnow‬ ‪#EndSARS‬ ‪#BuhariMustGo,” he tweeted.
