Iraq doubled the number of visas for foreign pilgrims in Arbaeen

The Baghdad government has doubled the number of predetermined visas for foreign pilgrims from 40,000 to 80,000 on the occasion of Arbaeen.

According to the Islamic calendar, on the 20th of the month of Safar, Shia Muslims around the world celebrate the anniversary of Imam Hussein (a) and millions walk the 80 km distance from the holy city of Najaf to Karbala, known as the Millennium March, and Arbaeen March
Last year due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic around the world, the government of Iraq banned the entry of foreign pilgrims.

This year a limited number of foreign pilgrims have been allowed to travel in view of the reduction in corona cases and vaccination.
According to the advisory issued from the Prime Minister’s Office of Iraq, Corona vaccination is a condition for all foreign pilgrims traveling to Iraq on Arabian.
