17-Year-Old Boy In Court For Stealing N722k In Ikeja

A 17-year-old boy on Friday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court, for allegedly stealing N722,000.

The police charged the minor with theft, under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The Prosecution Counsel, DSP Kehinde Ajayi , told the court that the minor committed the offence on June 21, at Highway Powa Market, Ikeja, Lagos.

He claimed that the boy stole the N722,000 cash, belonging to Ms Esther Adeboye.

Chief Magistrate A.O. Ajibade admitted the minor to bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Aug. 30, for further hearing.

It is earlier reported that, a 13-year-old boy identified only as Ogaga was recently caught and paraded by an irate mob for stealing clothes and footwear in Sapele, Delta state.

However, during interrogation, Ogaga who was caught with his friend pleaded for leniency.

He confessed that he started stealing and smoking weed after he lost both parents.

On why he smokes, the teenager attributed it to depression, which he claimed was a result of too much thinking about his hopeless situation.

In the viral video, the mob which comprises angry residents could be heard saying they caught the two teenagers, Ogaga and Tomiwa, caught in the act, stealing clothes from lines and footwear from doorsteps, following series of complaints about missing slippers and clothes in the neighbourhood.

When asked what they would do if they are eventually set free, the duo vowed to turn a new leaf.
