According to many News outlets, in Palestine, as the occupying regime intensifies its violence against Muslims during the fasting holy month of Ramadan, Israeli forces have shot and killed a young Palestinian in front of one of the gates to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied Old City of al-Quds.
According to Palestinian media, Muhammad al-Osibi, a young man, was killed on Friday night near the Chain Gate, one of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound’s entrances.
Eyewitnesses claimed that gunfire could be clearly heard coming from inside the mosque and that the young man was shot to death while attempting to shield a Palestinian girl who was being assaulted at the Chain Gate and prevented from entering the holy site by troops.
According to the Palestinian Safa news agency, “Israeli forces opened fire on 26-year-old Osibi, from the Bedouin town of Hura in the occupied Negev, after a fight with one of them as they assaulted a girl in the place.”

Following the shooting, the Israeli military restricted access to the Old City and mobilized a large number of its forces in the mosque’s courtyards, closing the mosque’s doors.
Israeli sources confirmed to Palestine’s Shehab news agency that the man was shot while attempting to protect the Palestinian woman.
Shehab continued, “He was shot and critically wounded, as a result of which he died.”
According to the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Israeli police attacked several worshippers at al-Aqsa Mosque near the Chain Gate, including a girl. This led to a fight between the young man and police officers who fired directly at him, the newspaper reported.
Palestinians are enraged when provocative Israeli legislators and settlers regularly storm the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied city. These massive settler break-ins almost always take place in al-Quds under the direction of Israeli police and at the direction of temple groups supported by Tel Aviv.
The al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock are housed in the compound of the al-Aqsa Mosque, which is just above the Western Wall plaza.
Before making their way to al-Aqsa Mosque for the second Friday of Ramadan, thousands of Muslim worshippers made their way across early-morning Israeli military checkpoints.
Palestinians’ access to and exit from the al-Aqsa Mosque has been severely restricted by the Israeli government since the beginning of the holy month. Film from a portion of the entryways showed Palestinians fighting with Israeli powers who hindered the doors. At the scene, several Palestinians were detained.
Israeli settlers continue their frequent incursions and provocative rituals at the holy site even as tensions with Palestinian worshippers rise.
Even when an agreement has been reached between Israel and the Jordanian government signed in response to Israel’s occupation of East al-Quds in 1967, that non-Muslim worship is prohibited at al-Aqsa but Jewish visits are permitted.
