Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious in all 33 Local Government Areas IN Saturday’s council election in Oyo State, as announced by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) on Sunday.

The results, declared amidst controversy over irregularities during the voting process, were announced at the Conference Hall of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission in Agodi, Ibadan.

Mr. Isiaka Olagunju, the OYSIEC Chairman, affirmed the results and declared the PDP victorious after presenting results from all 33 local government areas where elections took place.

However, complaints have surfaced from some local government areas regarding discrepancies noticed during the electoral process.

These include issues such as the lateness of materials and personnel and the non-availability of necessary materials in some areas.

Allegations have also claimed that elections did not occur in certain wards, notably in Ibadan North, Ibadan South West, and parts of Saki in the Oke Ogun axis of the state.

Olagunju, while expressing gratitude to all electoral officers, party agents, and security agents involved in the process, acknowledged the need for improvement in certain areas.

He stated that a detailed report of the election would be presented to the state government once it is ready.

Meanwhile, the African Action Congress (AAC) has expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the local government elections and has called for its cancellation.

At a press conference held at the party office in Ibadan, the National Publicity Secretary of AAC, Fẹmi Adeyeye, alleged that the Oyo State government did not conduct a credible election.

The AAC also called on security agents to release its State Chairman and another member who were reportedly arrested during the election period.
