Shettima to represent Tinubu in Rome, Russia-Africa Summits

President Bola Tinubu’s vice president, Kashim Shettima, left Abuja for two significant international summits in Rome, Italy, and St. Petersburg, Russia.

Vice President Shettima will participate in the first Stocktaking Moment (STM) Summit in Rome with other world leaders. The summit’s theme is “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet, and Prosperity,” and it will take place from Monday, July 24, to Wednesday, July 26, this year.

The Vice President will be the moderator of a high-level session at the summit with the title “Innovative Financing for Food System Transformation: the Case of Nigeria” and a side event with the title “Scaling up Multi Stakeholders Collaboration and Investment in the Implementation of Food Systems Transformation Pathways in Nigeria.”

The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the larger UN system are working with the Rome-based UN Agencies, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP) to put on the event.

said the Vice President will travel from Rome to St. Petersburg to represent the President at the Russia-Africa Summit, which is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, July 26, to Saturday, July 29, in Russia.

The Vice President will attend the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum and the Second Russia-Africa Summit while in Russia. These events are aimed at developing strategies to improve ties between Russia and the African continent, among other advantages.

Additionally, Vice President Shettima will take part in bilateral discussions about relations between Russia and Nigeria with representatives of relevant senior Russian government officials and business leaders.

The Vice President, who is traveling with senior government representatives from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, is scheduled to return to the nation at the end of the week.
