22 terrorists killed during NAF airstrikes in Katsina

During an air operation carried out by Air Force personnel in Katsina State, no less than 22 terrorists were killed.

Abdulkareen Lawal, also known as Abdulkareen Boss, the terrorist leader, and his foot soldiers are among those who have died.

On July 5, 2022, a Nigerian Police Area Commander was allegedly murdered in Dutsin Ma, and Abdulkareem Boss was accused of planning the crime.

On August 5, 2022, airstrikes in Katsina’s Ruga forest killed Abdulkareem Boss along with some of his foot soldiers.

The attack that killed the terrorists, according to a military source on Thursday, was based on information that the troops had received.

According to the source, “Over 22 terrorists, mostly made up of the foot soldiers of the deceased notorious terrorists’ kingpin Abdulkareen Lawal, aka Abdulkareen Boss, were on Monday, July 17, 2023, neutralized by air strikes conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji at Batsari and Sola Poi II in Batsari and Jibia Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

According to reliable intelligence reports, the terrorists were behind a number of kidnappings and violent attacks on some communities in Katsina State’s Kankara LGA.”

NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet confirmed the airstrikes when contacted.

He did, however, point out that since taking office, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, had instructed all air component commanders to coordinate with other security agencies to attack terrorists’ safe-havens.

Following the insecurities challenge facing the country for decades Nigerian Governors seek to resolve to bring in foreign mercenaries to fight terrorists if the President Buhari-led Federal Government fails to find a lasting solution forthwith, said El-Rufai.

During Buhari’s tenure, El-Rufai urged the FG to find a permanent fix to killings in various parts of the country and route out terrorists hibernating in forests areas around Kaduna, or else the governors will be left with no other choice but to take action to protect lives and properties.
