The volume of public protests and the manner of violence and bloodshed by the French military forces are so extensive that some experts have announced the possibility of a new revolution in this country, this issue is important because France is the land of revolutions and in the last two hundred years, witnesses Several widespread social and political uprisings have led to fundamental revolutions.

1789 – Great French Revolution

Bastille Prison was the largest prison in Paris where many opponents of the monarchy were imprisoned. This prison was attacked in July 1789. Many historians consider the fall of the Bastille prison to be the first spark of the revolution. 20 days after the fall of the Bastille, the French Chamber of Commerce abolished the feudal system forever.

In October of the same year, a crowd of angry working-class women of Paris gathered in front of the city hall and demanded bread from the poor districts. They stormed into the building and disarmed the guards. When they were told they could not help them, they left for the Palace of Versailles; the fall of the palace ended the rule of kings in France.

1968- massive student and worker protests

The French student-worker movement of 1968 refers to a series of events that occurred in a period of 4 weeks in May of this year. This movement, which started from a student group the protest, brought millions of French people to the field of struggle.

Although the events of May 1968 in France were not recognized as a revolution by the political authorities, its impact on human relations and the civil life of the French society was no less than a revolution. There are different opinions and ideas about the 1968 movement; Some interpreted it as the expansion of the scope of freedom and prosperity, on the other hand, others evaluated this movement as an American conspiracy to counter the independence policies of General de Gaulle’s government.

2018 massive public protests

“Yellow Vest movement” is a protest movement centered in Paris, which quickly spread to other countries such as Belgium and the Netherlands. These demonstrations were held in protest against the increase in fuel prices and taxes. According to the French newspapers, the yellow vests have put the government in front of a kind of crisis that has no historical record in France. This protest movement, which has neither a specific leader nor an obvious organization, was able to organize a demonstration of 290,000 people this November.

2023 “No” to France

After the spread of the chaotic economic situation in France, Macron’s government decided to undertake some economic reforms and implement economic austerity policies in order to regulate the economic mechanism of the government by exerting pressure on French citizens. The retirement age showed, provided the ground for large-scale protests since the fall of last year.

The scope of these protests did not stop even with the violent and bloody suppression of the police, and it escalated to the point where the police tried to kill a 17-year-old teenager in the street; An issue that had the effect of pouring gasoline on the fire and turned the whole of France into a bloody conflict between the people and the military forces.

It seems that due to the sharp statement of the police against French citizens and also the insulting words of Macron against the people, the range of protests will be wider and of course, the violence of the police and the army will increase, this issue can lead the situation towards a real revolution A revolution that, in addition to the possible overthrow of Macron’s government, will provide the basis for changing some governance structures and even the constitution in this country.

The high vote of the radical right-wing parties in the recent French presidential elections, as well as the lowest level of public approval for Macron, have provided the ground for this revolution. A revolution centered on the slogan “No to France” which can change not only the internal strategies of this country but also the foreign policies of Europe in events such as the war in Ukraine.
