Palestinian teen girl passes away from Israeli gunshot wounds

Due to the Israeli military’s deadly raid on the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin, a Palestinian teen has passed away from gunshot wounds she received two days ago.

The victim, identified as 15-year-old Sadil Ghassan Turkman, was shot in the head and died at the Jenin Government Hospital early on Wednesday, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, which cited the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Separately, Nasser Saleh Sanan, 55, who was also struck in the head by Israeli army fire during an attack on Jenin last month, passed away from his injuries late on Tuesday.

Early on Monday, Israeli soldiers stormed Jenin and opened fire with live ammunition, stun grenades, and gas.

The ensuing hours-long exchange of gunfire between Palestinian fighters and Israeli army soldiers saw the first use of combat helicopters in decades.
The victims of the attack on Monday were identified by the health ministry as Ahmed Saqr, 15, Sadil Ghassan Turkman, 15, Khaled Darwish, 21, Qassam Sariya, 19, Qassam Faisal Abu Sirriya, 29, and Ahmed Daraghmeh, 19.

According to Nibal Farsakh, a media and information officer for the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), four ambulances were also targeted by Israeli forces in Jenin.

Farsakh claimed that they were “directly targeted with live ammunition, causing material damage to the structure and the glass of the ambulances themselves.”

Farsakh added that the injured people at the scene were not immediately treated by medical personnel because they were initially denied access and then arrived too late. Some required emergency medical care as they were “in a very severe condition.”

According to a statement from the Israeli military, the mission of the raid was to arrest two suspects, but when its soldiers came under fire, there was a “massive exchange of fire. ”.

It acknowledged that the attack had injured seven of its soldiers.
The Palestinian photojournalist Hazem Nasser was shot during the Jenin raid, according to the Quds News Network.

The Israeli operation was denounced by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad as a “heinous crime,” and Hamas declared its support for Jenin-based resistance fighters.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Israeli forces have killed at least 170 Palestinians since the beginning of 2023, including 26 children. The death toll includes 36 Palestinians who died between May 9 and May 13 as a result of an Israeli army assault on the besieged Gaza Strip that lasted four days.
