Uganda: Daesh-linked terrorist attack school massacre 41

41 bodies including 38 students, who were burned, and shot to death after terrorists affiliated with Daesh attacked a school in western Uganda, close to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, have been found by Ugandan authorities.

In a late-night attack on Lhubirira Secondary School in Mpondwe, members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a Ugandan organization that has sworn allegiance to the Daesh terrorist organization, set a dormitory on fire and stole food, according to police.

41 bodies were removed from the school, 38 of which were students, according to Selevest Mapoze, director of the Mpondwe-Lhubiriha border region.

The Ugandan army and police were reportedly pursuing the terrorists as they fled across the flimsy border towards the Virunga National Game Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo while abducting at least six more people, according to the military.

In a previous statement, police spokesman Fred Enanga said, “25 bodies have been recovered from the school and transferred to Bwera hospital,” adding that eight injured students were also taken to the hospital.

The Ugandan government views ADF as a terrorist organization. To aid in the fight against the group, the nation has sent troops to the DRC.

In an effort to topple President Yoweri Museveni’s administration, the ADF, which had its origins in western Uganda, launched in the late 1990s, was defeated by the Ugandan army.

They hid in the eastern DRC forests, where they frequently attacked villages and killed innocent people.

At least 20 people were killed in an attack on a village by the ADF in April that took place in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Following the gruesome outcome of the attack Türkiye extends its condolences. The Turkish Foreign Ministry released a statement in which it said it was “deeply saddened” by the attack’s fatalities of numerous students. It offered its condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.

“Türkiye, a nation battling resolutely against all forms and manifestations of terrorism, stands in solidarity with the government and people of Uganda in this trying day,” it added.

The terrorist attack against the school was also denounced by the Turkish Embassy in Uganda.

“Deeply saddened by the terrorist attack on the Lhubirira secondary school in Mpondwe last night. It is incomprehensible to target children. Turkish Ambassador to Uganda Mehmet Fatih Ak tweeted, “I strongly condemn this heinous attack and extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
