The Israeli regime has been severely criticized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League for its recent incursion into a prayer area at the al-Aqsa Mosque and its subsequent escalation of attacks on sacred Muslim and Christian sites in the occupied Old City of al-Quds.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the overall secretariat of the 57-member OIC criticized such actions as blatant violations of global regulation, Geneva Conventions, and global goals, claiming that the attacks contribute to provoking the feelings of nearly two billion Muslims worldwide.
The organization demanded that the international community assume its responsibilities and put an end to the ongoing Israeli violations of religious sites in al-Quds, which would fuel religious conflict and extremism and cause instability throughout the region. It held Israeli authorities fully responsible for the dire consequences of the daily assaults on sacred sites in al-Quds.

Saeed Abu Ali, the Arab League’s Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories, also condemned Israeli attacks on Christian and Muslim religious sites as deliberate vandalism and warned of the negative effects.
Abu Ali mentioned that Israeli troops broke into the Bab al-Rahma (The Gate of Mercy) prayer area on the second day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, to resume their assaults on al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to him, the sacrilegious act and the deliberate sabotage caused significant damage to the electrical wiring, doors, and other items in the quarter, which is an essential component of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinian media outlets claim that on Saturday, as Muslims celebrated the Eid al-Fitr holiday, Israeli forces stormed the Bab al-Rahma prayer area and caused extensive damage inside.
In occupied al-Quds, the Israeli troops also beat Palestinian youths who were on their way to the Eid prayers with sticks near the Lion’s Gate.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad, two Palestinian resistance organizations, have both voiced their displeasure with Israeli violence and pledged to uphold their sacred sites in the face of the regime’s assaults.
Israeli authorities restricted Palestinians’ access to and departure from the al-Aqsa Mosque gates during the holy month of Ramadan. Israeli settlers continued their frequent incursions and provocative rituals at the holy site even as tensions with Palestinian worshippers rose.
