Ahead of the Arbaeen ceremonies, Iranian border guards dismantled a weapon smuggling terrorist gang in the southeastern parts of the country, the Iranian border police commander reported.

Iranian border guard succeeded in identifying arms smuggling terrorist gang in the border area of Sistan and Baluchestan, Iranian border police commander Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi said on Tuesday.

On Monday night, border guards stationed in Iran’s southeastern border area managed to arrest 1 smuggler linked with a terrorist group who intended to smuggle a number of weapons to the country ahead of Arbaeen ceremonies, he added, saying that the braved Iranian border guards seized a trailer carrying 2 shotguns, 5 Kalashnikov, 210000 cartridges as well as other types of weapons.

It was earlier reported that, Khuzestan police Commander announced that two groups of firearms traffickers were dismantled in Ahvaz and Karun counties in southern Iran.

The security forces in Khuzestan province identified 2 separate arms traffickers teams that were trying to import weapons to Ahvaz and Karun.

The report added that during the operation two huge consignments of guns containing 87 firearms as well as huge amounts of ammunition were confiscated by the police forces.

Earlier on Dec 5, 2021 police forces had dismantled 2 other teams of arms traffickers in Ahwaz and Hamidiyeh in the same province located in southwest Iran.
