Ladan Bosso makes Nigeria proud as the under 20 teams arrive with the trophy. Nigeria’s men’s under 20 football team arrived in the country on Sunday, May 22, 2022. The Flying Eagles return to the country after winning the West African Football Union (WAFU) B under 20 title.
The Flying Eagles were victorious among the eight countries that participated at the WAFU B U-20 tournament in Niamey, Niger Republic.
The tournament featured the best young players in west Africa from Saturday, May 7 till Friday, 20, 2022.
The Flying Eagles were in group B along with Ghana and Burkina Faso. They recorded a victory against Ghana and defeated the youth team of 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosts Ivory Coast in the group phase.
Ladon Bosso’s men were also able to take down neighbors Benin Republic in the final to be crowned champions.
The Amaju Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the arrival of the Flying Eagles in the country.
The NFF put out a statement about the Flying Eagles on their social media handles.
The message by the NFF said, “Our Flying Eagles who just won the Wafu B U20 championship arrived at 1.00 am this morning.
“They were welcomed by the NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, and other members of Management and Staff of the NFF.

The victory at the WAFU B U-20 tournament means that the Flying Eagles have booked a spot at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) next year.
The 2023 U-20 AFCON will be hosted by Egypt and will take place from February, 18 till March 12 2022.
