NDLEA intercepts millions of Tramadol tablets in latest bust

The anti-drug body is ramping up its activities against drug trafficking in the country as the latest round of seizures prove.

The National Drug and Law Enforcement agency is ramping up its activities against drug trafficking in the country. The latest round of seizures has seen the organization intercept 8,381,600 capsules and tablets of Tramadol as well as 56,782 bottles of codeine in Lagos during the Yuletide season. It has been suspected that drug cartels will be motivated to push out more of those illicit substances during this celebratory season as the demand for them are usually higher in the season.

Brigadier-General Mohammed Marwa (retd), the designated head of the anti-drug body had promised that the organization would ramp up its activities against traffickers prior to the Christmas season and it seems those efforts are already bearing fruit with these busts. The suspect, in this case, Ezekiel Ibe, was arrested and was found in the possession of over five tons of high milligrams Tramadol; 225mg and 100mg recovered from his warehouse.
