Iran: Palestine Still Muslim World’s Top Priority – Parliament Speaker

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf described Palestine as the most important priority in the Islamic World, saying the Resistance Front is the cause of Zionists’ humiliation.

“The issue of Palestine is the most important priority of the Islamic world,” Qalibaf said while addressing the 16th PUIC Conference in Istanbul, Turkey.

He referred to the Israeli regime’s brutal measures and policies over the last seven decades to violate the Palestinians’ fundamental human rights, and said that despite the fact that “the Zionists had enjoyed the support of the West; they failed to achieve their ultimate goal”.

Qalibaf refuted the attempts by some Arab states to normalize relations with the Israeli regime and said that “Although some people talk of compromise with the Zionist regime out of desperation, the Zionist regime is in decline (is near to its collapse).”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qalibaf pointed to developments in Afghanistan and urged the Islamic countries to take a collective approach and to be serious in sending humanitarian aid to Afghans.

He referred to rise of the ISIL as a concern in Afghanistan, saying the US is after creating instability in Afghanistan.

“The situation in Afghanistan is dire after 20 years of the destructive presence of foreign forces,” Qalibaf added.

He stated that Iran would do its responsibility regarding Afghans.

Qalibaf urged the Islamic states to use their impact in the international organizations aiming to render financial aid to Afghanistan.

Qalibaf arrived in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Wednesday evening to participate in the meeting of the 16th Parliamentary Union of OIC members.

In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Qalibaf underlined that Iran and Turkey have very good and friendly bilateral relations, and said that the comprehensive document on cooperation between the two countries is being finalized.

Qalibaf made the remarks at Tehran’s International Mehrabad Airport before embarking on a trip to Turkey to attend the 16th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) conference.

The Iranian parliament speaker reiterated that during his two-day visit, the parliament speakers of the Islamic countries would convene to discuss the issue of Palestine, immigration, and the developments in Afghanistan.

He also said that he will hold bilateral talks with speakers of the parliaments of attending countries on the sidelines of the meeting.

“Iran and Turkey have very good and expandable bilateral relations,” Qalibaf said, adding that the document on comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Turkey is being finalized, and “we will use the opportunity” that the two-day trip provides to talk to the Turkish authorities” in this regard for further coordination.

“Iran and Turkey have a lot of cooperation in the region and on the international stage, which can be very effective,” the Iranian parliament speaker added.
