Man Utd transfer round-up: Ronaldo terms still to be agreed as Trippier interest revived

The Premier League side is closing in on bringing Ronaldo back to Old Trafford as they look to complete their summer transfer business by Tuesday night’s deadline. The shock return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United has changed the face of the summer transfer window.

United had boosted their squad with the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, but it was felt that the Red Devils were still behind Manchester City and Chelsea in the race for the title.

The £13m deal to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford changes that outlook completely though, with United now arguably the favorites to win the Premier League.

Despite the three statement additions, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has more work to do before Tuesday’s transfer deadline though.

Cristiano Ronaldo is edging ever closer to officially completing his return to Manchester United, with a fee having already been agreed between the Red Devils and Juventus.

The Serie A side will receive £12.8million, plus £6.2m in add-ons, in return for the Portuguese superstar.

United announced the agreement on Friday evening, with personal terms, a visa and a medical still to be completed.
Ronaldo traveled to Lisbon yesterday after bidding farewell to Juventus to agree on the final details on the move.

That agreement should come imminently, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reporting that the proposed two-year contract has already been sent to Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes.

Though the deal has been agreed quickly, United has missed the deadline for Ronaldo to play against Wolves this Sunday, with the 36-year-old forced to wait until after the international break to make his debut.

Trippier has been one of United’s top targets of the summer window, though it appeared their interest had cooled in recent weeks.

That was in part due to the pre-season form of Dalot, who spent last season on loan at Serie A side AC Milan.
But The Athletic now reports that Borussia Dortmund has made an offer to take the Portuguese right-back on loan.

It is stated that United will not allow Dalot to leave without first lining up a replacement, with that man set to be Trippier.

The report states that while “major obstacles” are currently blocking both moves, dialogue has been reopened ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
