Afghanistan developments confirm Americans cannot be trusted: Iraqi official

The head of an Iraqi resistance bloc says what is unfolding in Afghanistan confirms the Iraqi resistance’s position that the Americans cannot be trusted, noting that the US destroys nations.

“Anyone who trusts them (Americans) is like an ostrich burying its head in the sand and thinking it has protected itself,” Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, the head of al-Sadiqoun Bloc, a political wing of the Iraqi resistance group Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, wrote in a message published via his Twitter account.

Dulaimi said that the US overthrew the Taliban in 2001 and provided the Afghan armed forces with advisory and arms assistance to counter the Taliban but the end result was the collapse of Afghanistan’s armed forces, the displacement of millions of people, and the return of the militant group.

He called on the Iraqi people to defend and support the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), an organization composed of different anti-terror resistance groups, saying the PMU is the only option to prevent the US deception in Iraq.

The Iraqi figure further said the Americans would return to Iraq to hand over the country to the Ba’athists again, in the same way, they handed Afghanistan to the Taliban if care were not taken.
‘Afghanistan scenario will not be repeated in Iraq’

A senior member of Iraq’s al-Fatah parliamentary coalition, however, said the US scenario in Afghanistan will not be repeated in Iraq owing to the presence of the PMU, commonly known in Iraq by its Arabic name as Hashd al-Sha’abi.

“The Afghanistan scenario is an American recipe aimed at creating chaos in Central Asia and transferring it to the Middle East, which suffers mainly from the consequences of the ideology of al-Qaeda, Daesh and the rest of extremist organizations,” Uday al-Khudran told Iraq’s Arabic-language al-Maalomah news agency on Sunday.

The scenario, according to Khudran, will not be repeated in Iraq with the presence of Hashd al-Sha’abi, which represents an important pillar in the country’s security system.

He pointed out that all pressures from Washington and its allies on the PMU in recent years come because they realize the group’s capabilities and doctrine of steadfastness in the face of terrorist organizations.

“What is happening in Afghanistan is an international conspiracy led by Washington, and Iraq will be far from its repercussions in light of the presence of Hashd al-Sha’abi and the rest of the supporting security organizations,” he added.
Any occupation will end sooner or later

The head of Yemen’s national negotiating delegation, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, pointed to the failure of the United States in Afghanistan 20 years after invading the country, saying any occupation will come to an end sooner or later.

He warned the countries engaged in the Saudi-led war against Yemen to “learn a lesson” from the situation in Afghanistan.

“The mercenaries of the coalition must know that turning to foreigners and acting against the people is a crime that has no consequences other than loss, shame, and humiliation,” Abdul-Salam said, according to Yemen’s al-Masirah television network.

The situation in Afghanistan aggravated in the aftermath of the withdrawal of the US forces, who had invaded the country to topple the Taliban in response to the September 11 attacks on the United States.

The withdrawal of US troops began in early May and is planned to be concluded by the end of August.

On Sunday, Taliban militants entered Kabul after taking over vast areas of the war-torn country. They later captured the presidential palace after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

“Today is a great day for the Afghan people and the mujahideen. They have witnessed the fruits of their efforts and their sacrifices for 20 years,” Mohammad Naeem, the spokesman for the Taliban’s political office, claimed on Monday.
