The country’s cumulative caseload declined to 4,24,025, of which total recoveries were at 3,02,27,792 across the country. Active cases constitute 1.59 per cent of the total caseload.
Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 13,750, followed by Maharashtra with 7,761 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 2,345 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,312 cases and Odisha with 2,070 cases.
These five states accounted for 74.16 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 36.11 per cent of the fresh infections.
On Sunday, 560 Covid-related fatalities were recorded, slightly higher than the 542 deaths reported on Friday.
Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (167), followed by Kerala with 130 deaths in the last 24 hours.
A total of 43,916 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 55th consecutive day.

The recovery rate further increased to 97.31 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate continued to remain below five per cent.
India conducted 19,98,715 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.
A total of 42,12,557 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 39,96,95,879.
