China has categorically opposed NATO’s eastward expansion into the Asia-Pacific region and warned that any threat to its legitimate rights will be met with a resolute response.
After a NATO summit in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, where the US-led Western military alliance criticized Beijing, China’s mission to the European Union issued a statement on Tuesday with the warning.
The People’s Republic of China (PRC) posed a threat to NATO’s interests, security, and values with its “ambitions and coercive policies,” according to a forceful statement from NATO earlier in the day.”
The heads of state of NATO stated in their communiqué that “the PRC employs a broad range of political, economic, and military tools to deepen its global footprint and project power while remaining opaque about its strategy, intentions, and military build-up.”
“The PRC targets Allies and compromises Alliance security with its nefarious hybrid and cyber operations, confrontational rhetoric, and disinformation.”
The Chinese mission denied any worries about China’s aspirations and oppressive policies that were allegedly raised by the military alliance.
It claimed that the NATO communiqué ignores fundamental facts, misrepresents China’s position and policies, and seeks to damage China’s reputation.
Beijing’s interests in security, development, and sovereignty will be zealously protected, according to the statement.
Moreover, it charged NATO with smearing China by ignoring obvious truths and purposefully misrepresenting Beijing’s policies.
The statement read, “We vehemently oppose and reject this.”
The mission emphasized that the Asia-Pacific region will become even more tense as a result of NATO’s repeated claims to be a nuclear alliance in its communiqué.
China has cautioned NATO against meddling in regional affairs and continuing its eastward expansion into the Asia-Pacific.”
According to the report, the Western military alliance’s actions “will inevitably undermine regional peace and stability and fuel camp rivalry.”
Beijing has expressed its opposition to any foreign military presence in the area and warned against the creation of an “Asia-Pacific version of NATO”
More than 90% of participants in a global survey conducted last month strongly disagreed with NATO’s involvement in the Asia-Pacific region and found the alliance’s operations there to be very concerning.
Ninety-three percent of respondents strongly agreed that NATO’s recent defense policy violations were a result of its actions.
According to the poll, more than 92 percent of respondents think NATO has turned into a tool for the US to uphold its hegemony and advance its political objectives.
NATO “stokes trouble everywhere and keeps meddling in other regions’ affairs, which will only have its own consequences,” one respondent was quoted by CGTN as saying.
