Orlando Pirates, Al Ahli Tripoli, ASEC Mimosas, and Al-Masry all secured wins on Matchday 4 of the CAF Confederation Cup
Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah marshaled the Orlando Pirates defense as the South African side secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Royal Leopards on Sunday.
The one-time capped Nigerian international played 78 minutes of the fixture as the Pirates kept a second consecutive clean sheet at the Orlando Stadium.
Pirates go top of Group B
Fortune Makaringe (47′), Kabelo Dlamini (56′), and Terrence Dzvukamanja (70′) got the goals for the home side before Ndah was replaced by Happy Jele in the 78th minute with the job done.
Sunday’s victory took the Pirates top of the Group with nine (9) points following an aggregate 9-2 scoreline over the Eswatini side across both legs.
In the other fixture in Group B, Algeria’s JS Saoura secured a 1-0 victory over Al Ittihad Tripoli to go second on the log ahead of their visitors.
Oussama Bellatreche’s 1st-minute goal proved to be the matchwinner as the Algerian side repelled an onslaught from their Libyan visitors.
Al-Ahli Tripoli and Pyramids FC dominate Group A
In Group A, Al-Ahli Tripoli etched a dramatic 3-2 away victory at the Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia over Zanaco FC.
The visitors were pegged back on both occasions when they went ahead in the match by Zanaco but Moataz Al Mahdi produced a 92nd-minute winner to give Al-Ahli Tripoli all three points.
Group A’s unbeaten side Pyramids FC of Egypt continued their impressive run by securing a point away at CS Sfaxien at the Taieb Mhiri Stadium in Tunisia.
Walid El Karti put Pyramids ahead in the 44th minute before Firas Chaouat’s 54th-minute equalizer broke Pyramids’ run of three wins on the trot in Group A.

Al-Masry, Coton Sport tussle for Group C
Egypt’s Al-Masry pipped Congo’s AS Otoho to the top spot in Group C by a lone goal victory at the Port Said Stadium on Sunday.
Hassan Ali’s 83rd-minute effort separated both sides despite Al-Masry firing a barrage of 26 shots at the Congolese all match.
Coton Sport and TP Mazembe ensured that things remained tight in Group C as T played out a 2-2 draw at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon.
The draw means Al-Masry and Coton Sport are level on seven points while AS Otoho are just one point better than Coton Sport’s three points.
Simba FC leads in a four-way battle for Group D
In Group D, Simba FC overtook RS Berkane at the top of the table with a 1-0 victory at home courtesy of Pape Sakho’s 44th-minute goal.
ASEC Mimosas 2-1 home victory over Niger’s Gendarmerie Nationale ensured that only three points separate log leaders Simba FC from bottom club Gendarmerie.
Egypt’s Simba FC have seven points while RS Berkane and ASEC Mimosas are level on six points followed by Gendarmerie with four points.
The 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup group stages return for their fifth matchday on Sunday, March 20.
