An Israeli police vehicle struck an 85-year-old Palestinian man in the village of Umm al-Khair in the West Bank, seriously injuring him.
An 85-year-old Palestinian man was seriously injured on Wednesday after an Israeli police vehicle ran him over in the village of Umm al-Khair in the occupied West Bank.
The elderly man, identified as Suleiman Al-Hathalin, was trying to prevent the entry of Israeli forces into the village, which lies in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, when he was struck by the vehicle.
Fuad Al-Amour, a coordinator in the Protection and Resistance Committee of Masafer Yatta, told The New Arab’s Arabic-language service: “Al-Hathalin is known for standing up to raids by the [Israeli] occupation forces.”
“When the occupation police stormed his village, Umm Al-Khair, he went out to stand up to them but an Israeli police vehicle deliberately ran him over, seriously wounding him,” he said.
