The 2024 Paris Olympics are just days away, and final preparations are still underway, including the selection of Snoop Dogg as the final torchbearer before the opening ceremony on Friday, July 26.
NBC previously announced that the rapper-turned-media personality will join the network in France for the Olympics, where he will help provide coverage
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Mayor of Saint-Denis Mathieu Hanotin revealed that the rapper will carry the Olympic torch through the streets of the Paris suburb, which is also the home of the Stade de France Olympic Stadium.
In a message translated from French announcing the news, Hanotin wrote, “Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame.”
Snoop also teased the news of carrying the Olympic torch with his own post on X, sharing a photo of himself arriving in Paris with the caption, “U ready? Paris 2024 Olympics ya digggg.”
NBC previously announced that the rapper-turned-media personality will join the network in France for the Summer Games, where he will help provide coverage of the event.
“The global megastar will be on site in Paris to provide regular reports for the Olympic Primetime Show beginning July 26, 2024, on NBC and Peacock,” NBC said in a press release.
Snoop, 52, will check in with NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico and also provide primetime coverage at different events throughout the international competition.
