Syria’s deputy UN envoy claims that US forces deliberately sought to implicate Damascus by arming and training Takfiri terrorists in the strategic al-Tanf region of southern Syria with mass-destructive chemical weapons.
Al-Hakam Dandi argued that the UN body’s insistence on holding monthly meetings on the alleged Syrian chemical file while no incident has actually occurred, points to a deliberate effort to create justifications for some Western states to reiterate their anti-Syria accusations during his remarks at a UN Security Council meeting on “The situation in the Middle East” on Tuesday in New York.
He emphasized, “Syria rejects any use of chemical weapons by any party, anywhere, at any time.”
Dandi also emphasized the need to change the OPCW’s behavior and prevent it from becoming politicized, polarized, or spread false information.

The Syrian government has been charged with using chemical weapons against its own citizens in the fight against terrorism on numerous occasions by Western media outlets and governments.
A joint mission led by the United States and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which oversaw the destruction of the weaponry, was given Syria’s stockpile of chemical weapons in 2014. In addition, it has consistently denied employing chemical weapons.
A suspected use of chemical weapons was reported in the city of Douma, which is about 10 kilometers northeast of the capital Damascus, on April 14, 2018, prompting a series of airstrikes by the United States, Britain, and France against Syria.
The White Helmets organization reported that alleged attack and released videos of them purportedly aiding survivors.
Later, it was revealed from leaked OPCW documents that there was “no evidence” of a chemical weapons attack in the Douma incident.
The US and its allies put pressure on the organization to censor the findings in order to hide information that undermined the justification for the US-led bombing of Syria days after the alleged attack.
