Local sources report that resistance fighters detonated homemade explosives as Israeli military vehicles drove by as violent clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinian gunmen in the al-Jabriyat neighborhood and Jenin refugee camp.
As a result, numerous vehicles suffered damage and caught fire.
Israeli army vehicles were seen in footage shared by Palestinian media outlets engulfed in smoke after being struck by what appeared to be homemade explosives.
The Israeli military vehicles were seen being fired upon in another clip. Other videos posted online featured gunfire and explosions that could be heard throughout the city.
According to the TV station TV7 Israel News, an explosion that hit an Israeli soldier’s military jeep resulted in at least six of the soldiers being injured.
The channel also stated that an explosive device impacted and penetrated the jeep. The wounded soldiers were flown in helicopters to the Gilboa (al-Jalama) crossing under gunfire and then to nearby hospitals.
Palestinian media also aired footage of an Israeli Apache helicopter firing flares over the city and hitting a target with a missile.
The first airstrike in the West Bank in years was captured on camera, and it showed a building-close area being hit repeatedly by missiles fired from helicopters.
According to a statement released by the Jenin Brigades, a local branch of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, its members set off explosive devices close to Israeli military vehicles before shooting at them.
Over the past year, tensions in the occupied West Bank have risen as a result of the Israeli military’s violent raids that it claims are meant to detain “wanted” Palestinians.
Report revealed that nearly 160 Palestinians, including 28 children, died as a result of these attacks in 2023, and numerous others were detained.
