YouTube on Friday lifted restrictions on former US President Donald Trump’s account, which was suspended two years ago after the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol.

“We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, while balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run up to an election,” YouTube said in a statement.
“This channel will continue to be subject to our policies, just like any other channel on YouTube,” it added.
YouTube was among the social media platforms that suspended Trump’s accounts after the deadly Jan. 6 riot in 2021, saying that Trump’s channel “violated” their policies.
Facebook and Twitter previously restored the former president’s accounts.
According to a report, the Social media site YouTube has restored former US President Donald Trump’s channel two-year-long suspension following the Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021.

Notably, Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram reinstated Trump’s account earlier this year.
Elon Musk-owned Twitter reactivated Trump’s account in November last year.
“Starting today, the Donald J. Trump channel is no longer restricted and can upload new content. We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, while balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run-up to an election,” read a tweet by YouTube.
“This channel will continue to be subject to our policies, just like any other channel on YouTube,” the tweet added
