Lionel Messi said in 2020 that it would be his dream to play in the MLS and David Beckham might be about to make Messi’s dream come true
Former England international David Beckham is said to be scheming a move for seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain to Inter Miami this summer.
Beckham, President, and co-owner of the MLS club Inter Miami is expected to leverage his ‘relationship’ with the Argentine superstar to push through a stunning move for arguably the best football player of all time.
We’d love Messi at Inter Miami if he leaves PSG – Jorge Mas
Beckham’s co-owner Jorge Mas confirmed that a deal might be in the works while speaking to the press while commenting on rumors that Messi might move to the United States in the near future.
Mas stated: “I think, and David has a relationship with him, if he does leave PSG, at the time he leaves it, we’d love to see Lionel Messi be a player at Inter Miami and be part of our community.
“Can it happen? Look, we’ll push. I’m an optimist at heart. Could I see that happening? It’s a possibility.”
Messi signed a two-year deal with PSG with the possibility of a one-year extension when he joined the Ligue 1 club last summer.
However, a subdued season in terms of goals and output has fuelled rumors that the former Barcelona star could leave the Parc des Princes soon.

I want the best players at Inter Miami – Beckham
When asked about the possibility of signing the player touted as the Greatest of All Time, Beckham only stated that he wants the best players at Inter Miami, be it young kids or established stars.
“I’ve always said I want the best players in our club and playing in our shirt because there’s a certain expectation. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be a bad thing. But most of the time it’s a good thing,” Beckham explained.
“When I first started this project, people were saying ‘This guy is coming, that guy is coming, [Cristiano] Ronaldo is coming, Messi’s coming.’ At the end of the day, we need to win, whether it’s with the young kids or stars.
“Our fans will be happy if we have stars on the team, but they’ll be even happier if they’re seeing young players coming through our academy and lifting the MLS Cup.”
If Messi was to move to the MLS, he would be the biggest player to play in the league and also reunite with his former international teammate Gonzalo Higuain who is already on the books at Inter Miami.
