Eight people died while 46 were injured in 140 fire outbreaks recorded in Kaduna State between June and October, according to the state Fire Service.
The Director of the State Fire Service, Mr Paul Aboi who disclosed this to reporters in Kaduna yesterday said 17 people were rescued from the incidents.
According to him, six deaths were recorded in 57 of the fire outbreaks in July and August.
“Property worth about N1.1 billion was saved from destruction within the period while property worth N2.4 billion was destroyed,’’ he said.
Aboi said the 140 fire outbreaks occurred in Kaduna, Zaria and Kafanchan, even as he said the service was doing its best to reduce the incidence by educating residents on fire safety measures.
