The Republic of Korea through Korea International Cooperation Agency KOICA in Nigeria have signed a new project agreement of ten point forty one Million US Dollars with Nigeria to further enhance multimedia learning and teaching in six States across the country.
The five year project plan which is organized by the Korean Embassy in Abuja is to improve multimedia learning environment and teaching capacity building in the education sector especially in the public primary and junior secondary schools from 2021 to 2025.
The project which is fully funded by the Korean Government is aimed to provide multimedia equipment, training of teachers and education officials and guide lines for development of basic education in Nigeria.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Nigerian Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission, Mr. Sonny Echono, assured that, Nigeria will effectively utilize the opportunity for the benefit of human development.
“Nigerian government will offer whatever assistance to the implementation of the project to ensure that it is a success and when the project is completed various schools will immensely contribute to the improvement of multimedia education in Nigeria”. Mr. Sonny Echono said.

The KOICA Country Director, Mr. Woochan Chan, said, the project is aimed at improving the importation of multimedia tools in teaching and learning in the classroom.
“Nigeria and Korea Model schools should play an important role to disseminate Multimedia ICT education to all Nigerian federation under the leadership of Universal Basic Education plays like locomotive to push the idea to all part of the country,” KOICA Country Director, Mr. Woochan Chan explained
The Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi who signed on behalf of the Nigerian government commended the initiative and reiterated Nigerian readiness to effectively utilize the facility to enhance the education system in the country.
The benefiting States are Lagos, Anambra, Kano, Nasarawa, Bauchi, and Edo.
