Some unknown gunmen have invaded Nasarawa Housing Estate along the Makurdi-Jos road, killing Emmanuel Akiko, a 34-year-old postgraduate student of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and carting away valuables items.

According to Daily Trust, Emmanuel was reportedly stabbed at the back of his neck before being strangled to death.

It was learnt that the assailants scale the fence at the backyard before gaining entrance into the estate around 10pm on Saturday.

The biological father of the deceased, Mr Dauda Akuki-Ovedoh, spoke about his son’s last moments.

Meanwhile, the state Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akabe, while representing Governor Abdullahi Sule, directed the state Commissioner of Police, Adeshina Soyemi, to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

He said this during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased.

The state police spokesman, Nansel Ramhan, said an investigation had been launched to ascertain the rationale behind the act.

According to a report, Gunmen suspected to be robbers killed a 34-year-old postgraduate student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi identified as Emmanuel Dauda Akuki.

Akuki was murdered when the gunmen invaded Nasarawa Housing Estate along Makurdi/Jos road on Saturday night, October 24.

Valuables items belonging to the deceased who is a Forensic and Correctional Psychology student was also carted away.

The assailants who jumped over the fence at the backyard before gaining entrance into the estate around 10pm stabbed the Akuki at the back of his neck before being strangled to death.

The tragic development was confirmed in a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Nansel Ramhan.

According to him, an investigation had been launched to ascertain the rationale behind the murder.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Dr Akabe sympathized with the father of the deceased, Mr Dauda Akuki-Ovedoh and his family and prayed the Lord grant the deceased eternal rest.
