Covid-19: Nigeria receives 4 million doses of Moderna vaccines- NPHCDA

Nigeria’s fight in the rising 3rd wave of COVID-19 got a boost as the Federal Government announced the arrival of the 4,000, 080 doses of Moderna vaccine.

This was disclosed in a statement by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency on Monday afternoon.

What the NPHCDA said

In its statement, the NPHCDA said, “The Country took delivery of 4,000, 080 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, donated by the United States of America through the COVAX facility.

“This morning, the ED/CEO NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, along with Development Partners and the Media visited the National Strategic Cold Store to take stock of the vaccine, discuss handling and storage of the vaccine at the National and sub-National levels.

The NPHCDA boss alongside Reps of USAID, WHO & UNICEF toured the new facility where the newly procured Ultra-Cold Chain Equipment has been installed at the National Strategic Cold Store, Abuja.

Recall Nairametrics reported last month that the Federal Government said it expects to receive about 8 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including donations from the United States government by the end of next month.
The NPHCDA boss explained that Nigeria expects delivery of 3.924 million doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca shots from global vaccine-sharing scheme, COVAX by the end of July or early August and an additional 3.93 million doses of either Pfizer/Biotech or Moderna, donated by the U.S. government via COVAX, in August as well.
