Former member of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, who represented Auyo constituency, Haladu Bako Uza had regained his freedom after payment of ransom.
An aide to the ex-Governor of the state Sule Lamido on social media, Mansur Ahmed confirmed his release to reporters.
He said the victim was released on Saturday around 3:00 pm after the payment of N1.5m ransom to kidnappers to secure his freedom.
It is reported that gunmen abducted the former lawmaker on his way to Auyo town, along Kano-Hadejia road on Wednesday night.

Police spokesman of the Jigawa State command ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the release of the victim to DAILY POST but didn’t say if the ransom was paid before the release of the victim.
He said, however, that the police had intensified a manhunt to arrest the criminals.
It is earlier reported that, the former lawmaker was kidnapped on Wednesday night while travelling from Kano to Jigawa State.

Mr Ahmed noted that Mr Bako represented Auyo local government area in the state assembly from 2007 to 2015.
Mr Bako, a chieftain of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa, also contested for but again lost the seat in 2019.
PREMIUM TIMES contacted Lawan Adam, the police spokesperson in Jigawa, but he said “I am yet to be briefed on the incident.”
Kidnapping for ransom is rare in Jigawa.
However, analysts have warned that the recent deteriorating insecurity in the troubled Northwest region may ignite the phenomenon in the state.
