The Israeli military has sounded sirens in Tel Aviv in central Israel warning of possible incoming rockets.<\/p>\n
Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said in a statement on Telegram that its fighters bombarded the Israeli city with a missile barrage in what it said \u201cin response to the Zionist massacres against civilians\u201d.<\/p>\n
Local media reported 15 explosions in the Tel Aviv area.<\/p>\n
Media reports also say rocket sirens sounded in many cities and towns, including Herzliya and Petah Tikva, in addition to Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n
According to a Reuters, Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades said it launched a “big missile” attack on Tel Aviv on Sunday as the Israeli military sounded sirens in the central city warning of possible incoming rockets.<\/p>\n
In a statement on its Telegram channel on Sunday, al-Qassam Brigades said the rockets were launched in response to what it called “Zionist massacres against civilians”.
\nHamas Al-Aqsa TV said the rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
Rocket sirens had not been heard in Tel Aviv for the past four months. The reason for the sirens was not immediately stated by the Israeli military.<\/p>\n
Israeli emergency medical services said they had received no reports of casualties.
\nThe attack signaled the Islamist faction was still able to fire long-range rockets despite more than seven months of devastating Israeli military offensive from the air and the ground.<\/p>\n
