US Forces Steal 53 Tankers of Oil from Syria to Iraqi Bases

53 oil tankers are stolen from Syria and sent to Iraqi bases by SDF militants and US occupation forces; As part of their ferocious efforts to further plunder natural resources in war-torn Syria, US occupation forces and their allied militants have deployed numerous tanker trucks to smuggle crude oil from Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah to bases in Iraq.

According to local sources in al-Ya’rubiyah town, a convoy of 53 tankers carrying stolen oil from the energy-rich Jazira region rumbled through the illegal Mahmoudiya border crossing on Saturday and headed toward Iraqi territory, as reported by the official news agency of Syria, SANA.

SANA reported that Kurdish-led, US-sponsored militants affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) escorted the convoy.

Bassam Tou’ma, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Syria, said on Friday that the Syrian people are suffering a lot because of the US military occupation of oil-rich northern Syria, Washington’s continued looting of natural reserves in the Arab country, and cruel unilateral sanctions.

Tou’ma stated that the foreign-sponsored conflict has led to a sharp decline in the production of oil, gas, and electricity, highlighting the difficulties that Syrians face in the energy sector.

He urged foreign companies to participate in Syria’s development projects, whether they were investing in renewable energy or oil and gas exploration.

SANA reported that Kurdish-led, US-sponsored militants affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) escorted the convoy.

The Pentagon claims that the US military’s deployment in northeastern Syria is intended to prevent Daesh Takfiri terrorists from acquiring oilfields there. The US military has been stationed there for a long time.

Damascus, on the other hand, claims that the deployment is intended to deplete the Arab nation’s natural resources. Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, has repeatedly acknowledged that American troops were in the Arab nation because of its oil wealth.

A spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry blasted the US military’s illegal deployment of troops in Syria and grain and oil smuggling in December 2022.

The US military’s presence in Syria is illegal. It is against the law for the US to smuggle grain and oil into Syria. Additionally, the US missile attack on Syria is illegal,” Zhao Lijian stated at a daily news briefing in Beijing.

According to official data provided by the Syrian government, US smuggling activities have cost Syria more than $100 billion in losses between 2011 and the first half of 2022, according to the Chinese diplomat.
